Gpa and Gma Hoover

 This is from a couple of weekends ago when Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit.

One of the things they brought with them was a big yellow tractor for Jay to sit in and play with outside when he gets a little bigger. Grandpa has put in a request for Uncle Eric to paint it green like a John Deere. I just hope Jay still fits into this outfit with the green tractor on the front when he rides on it!

Big weekend

We had a big weekend in terms of growing up!

Friday night we got out the next size up of baby clothes. After seeing the (cute!) stuff Katie is loaning to us, we took a trip to Baby Gap to get a few more things. I am now a Gap Card carrier....this could get ugly. At least I don't work next door to Old Navy now. And now I can't wait for the fall so that he can wear all of his new stuff!

Nick left early Saturday morning for a weekend trip with his drumline. It was the first time one of us spent the night away from Jay! I'm proud to say we all survived! I don't know who had the hardest time. Jay clung to Nick tonight, climbing all over him in bed again and again.

Tonight we also gave him his first haircut! We just did a quick trim around his ears and trimmed up the front. I held him in my lap trying to control his head and arms while Nick wielded the scissors. After he fell asleep tonight, we put a towel under his head and tried to get it a little neater.

Saturday morning timeline

8:30am - Jay starts waking up, Mama silently begs him to fall back asleep because she needs just a little more sleep herself, Papa snores

8:45am - Jay sleeps soundly, Mama is wide awake, Papa snores

8:50am - Mama gets up to make breakfast - blueberry muffins and bacon

9:10am - Papa gets up to help with the bacon

9:45am - Breakfast is ready, Mama and Papa decide to wake Jay up to join them

Sick baby

Jay had another milestone today, but not the happy kind. He had his first trip to Urgent Care. Poor bug has been sick since Saturday with a runny nose, cough, and an occasional low grade fever. He has been waking up with his eyes crusted shut. This afternoon, he woke up from a nap crying and was inconsolable so we took him in to the doctor. He has mild bronchitis and got a prescription for antibiotics. Nick is pleased that the medicine smells like bubble gum. I felt like such a mom walking around Hy-Vee with my drool and snot covered t-shirt while waiting for his prescription.
